About Me – Merijn Mattheijssen

Qualified Child Psychologist – Based in Vietnam

Hello, I’m Merijn Mattheijssen, a qualified child psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting children and families. I currently run my own independent clinic here in Danang, and I’m also flexible to travel to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City when needed.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a wide range of children, from those who are gifted or have learning challenges like dyslexia, to those dealing with behavioural or attention difficulties such as ADHD. Whatever the concern may be, my goal is always to understand each child as an individual and to provide practical, clear, and effective support.

My approach is direct and personal. I believe open communication helps build real connections with families and ensures that every step is clear. Each process begins with an intake session, followed by targeted assessments based on your child’s needs. Afterward, I prepare a detailed report and personally discuss my findings and recommendations with you.

As an independent practitioner, I guarantee that all information remains confidential and used solely to support your child’s growth and well-being. Even after the assessment process is complete, I remain available to offer guidance and ongoing advice whenever needed.

If you’re seeking clarity, understanding, and genuine support for your child, I’m here to help.

Child-Psychology

Understanding your child starts here.

Every child grows and develops in their own way. It’s normal for children to face challenges, sometimes with learning, behaviour, or social interactions. But when those challenges continue or begin to affect daily life, it’s important to look deeper and understand what’s really happening.

This is where child psychology plays an essential role. A child psychologist helps uncover the reasons behind a child’s struggles, whether it’s a learning difference like dyslexia, an attention issue such as ADHD, or emotional and social stress.

Early understanding is key. When we identify a child’s needs in time, we can provide the right support, build confidence, and help them develop effective strategies for the future.

Through assessment and guidance, a child psychologist offers families clear insight and practical advice on how to support their child’s growth and well-being. Every child deserves to feel understood, supported, and able to thrive — that’s what child psychology is all about.
